About me:
- Hi, lovely meeting you. I'm Femke.
over 10+ years of experience in providing supervision.
I grew up in the Netherlands, and always had a longing to travel. So, after finishing university and saving enough money, I made my way to Australia and never left. I eventually settled on the beautiful Gold Coast in 2010 and feel very lucky to live and work in such a beautiful part of the world.
I have had the opportunity in my professional life to practice with diverse professional groups,
in a broad range of areas, including Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol, Domestic Violence, Disability, and Homelessness.
I have supported children, young people, families, adults, and the elderly, in residentials,
drop-in centers, government institutions, clinical settings, and as part of outreach teams.
My roles have also been diverse, and include:
Support Work, Casework, Social Work, assistant Team Leader,
Team Leader, Program Manager, Service Manager, Field Supervisor,
University External Supervisor, Tutor and Marker.
A common theme throughout my front line career has been the support I offer people through trauma,
guiding them out of significant crises, and supporting their move toward wellness.
I am a firm and passionate believer in lifelong learning. My studies include:
Bachelor of Social Work
Diploma in Counselling
Diploma in Community Services - AOD and Mental Health
Diploma in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Certificate IV in Mental Health
Certificate IV in Social Pedagogical Work
Certificate in Fundamentals of Clinical Supervision
ADHD certified Clinical Services Provider
I am an AASW accredited Supervisor, which means that my supervision adheres to the highest standards.
I have extensive experience in providing supervision and support to
management, staff, students, and volunteers,
something I deeply enjoy,
hence I founded Gold Coast Supervision.
My work at Gold Coast Supervision is person-centered, strength-based, trauma-informed, and goal orientated.
I am a strong believer of working within your values.
My core values are social justice, honesty, trust, and acceptance. These values are deeply ingrained in
who I am as a person and they define my sessions.
My aim is to deeply listen to you,
provide support where needed,
enhance your skills and knowledge,
increase your resilience,
and enhance your enjoyment in working in this fabulous field.
I want you to become the absolute best and happiest worker that you can be.
